I’m spinning at Bleep43 in April alongside some really nice acts (Terrence Parker should be a real treat) and at Corsica Studios -- home to that rarest of things in London clubs -- a decent sound system! More details to be announced later, but here’s how things currently look:

For New Year’s Eve 2009 I’ll be spinning at a small party in Loughborough Junction, London (just down the road from Brixton). There’ll be 4 of us playing disco, acid, techno, house, electro, a bit of booty and no doubt all kinds of other stuff. It’s a smallish venue so if you’re looking for an intimate-feeling party on NYE then this might be the one for you!

New SoundCloud group for Booty

I know that there’s quite a few booty producers and DJs that use SoundCloud.com. They’ve got a Groups feature for collecting tracks and mixes together under some kind of theme, and as you’d expect there are shitloads of awful groups dedicated to Trance etc. but I just had a search through and found nothing for Ghettotech, Juke, Bass etc. so I’ve created a new group for it:

Here’s a selection of direct links to buy the release at various places online – I’ve listed a whole load in case people have their favourites, but bear in mind that some stores are much better than others. It’s hard to compare them with all the different currencies and formats etc. but while I’ve not shopped there myself yet, 7Digital seems to be pretty good price-wise so I’d recommend trying them (let me know if they’re any good!), whereas piss-takers like DJTunes.com and Trackitdown.net are trying to charge what a 12″ with these tracks on would have cost! JunoDownload.com aren’t that much better tbh – it’s a nice store but they charge far too much.

Hot new release news! I’m proud to announce that the latest release on Global Fire is out this coming Monday at all good digital stores.

Freak It All Night features Detroit’s DJ Knowledge on vocals and the release includes a rework of the original track by Mister Ries plus instrumental and acapella versions too.

I’m spinning at PIERRÜCKT in Ulm, Germany this Saturday so please come along if you’re in the area. I’m going to be playing a mixed up set of Bass and Baltimore Club – 2 styles I love but had never really thought about connection-wise before. One name that leaps to mind that bridges the two in a way is Frank Ski, who not only produced lots of early Baltimore Club stuff but who also did lots of nice remixes for Bass artists like Luke, Poison Clan and Disco Rick, so no doubt I’d be spinning a few of those along with loads of my favourite Bass and Club tracks.

DJ Guy on Facebook at last!

I’ve held out against using it for long enough and finally crumbled, so there’s now a DJ Guy Facebook page.

I’m currently finding my feet with it (and finding that it’s not half as easy to add an artist page as I thought it would be!) but hopefully I’ll have the hang of it before long. I’ve only created the DJ Guy page for now – I might add a Global Fire or Dikulous page next but the DJ Guy one may well do on its own.

So anyway, please celebrate my stumbling into the blinding light of modern-type social networking by adding yourself as a fan, poking me, tweaking my ear or something like that.

Getting Play July 2009

I thought I’d highlight a couple of recent mixes which feature tracks from my Ghost Dick! release!

The first mix is The Mini Mix Volume 10 by Mister Ries. It’s the latest in his Mini Mix series where he does short but really nice and busy booty sets. Mister Ries is a Dutch booty DJ with a fine pedigree – he was the first European booty producer back in 2004 to have a release on Databass Records, he’s one of the owners of 4 Player Records, and his latest release Hit It To The Beat on Juke Trax has him showing off the Chicago side of his production and it’s highly recommended. With this mix he’s taken a slightly different approach to his previous mixes with all sorts of mad editing done on each track before they’ve been mixed together. It features both Ghost Dick and Big Dick DJ Tools and you can get it here.

The second mix is a promo mix which Hot City did before playing at FABRICLIVE last month. Hot City’s tracks are a slick take on 90s Garage sounds and he’s put Ghost Dick in this mix alongside a load of other nice stuff. Grab the mix here and look out for Hot City’s releases.

Chrissy Murderbot – Thighs (DJ Guy’s Cheatin’ Mix)

I recently completed a remix for Wide Records of Chrissy Murderbot’s Thighs (featuring Miles Bonny). The original is out now (more details here) and my remix will be out later in the summer (also on WIDE Records) as part of a set of reworks of Murderbot’s tracks.

I’ll post up on here when it’s available in the shops, but you can preview my remix right now with the audio player on my DJ Guy page – it’s a big stomping disco-chorused monster of a thing and I’m pretty pleased with how it came out. You can also hear it in the mix in my How’s My Raving? Promo Mix.
