The Furious EP was released on 12″ in 2004 and you can hear the Non Stop DJs combining the Detroit feel with their London background on it. There’s a big mix of sounds and styles on this EP and it gained big reactions too, with radio play on the UK’s BBC Radio 1 and Detroit booty shows, global DJ support from the likes of DJ Rolando and DJ Godfather and Dave Clarke placing the EP at the #1 spot in his electro chart.
Furious: this Jungle-influenced booty track is halfway between Detroit and London with a warping bassline on the UK tip and an organ riff that it turns out was “inspired” by Carl Craig’s amazing From Beyond (as Psyche).
Furious (Raw Fury Dub): more furiousness, but with a 4×4 feel to this mix.
Hydraulic Pimp: somewhere between bootyish electro and a stripped down techno funk track, this track’s bassline sound samples Unknown DJ’s classic LA electro track Basstronic.
Hoes & Discos: more mixing up of Detroit and London here, with Redman on vocals.
Gator: a mad electro track by DJ Brelson (as Track Ghost).
LDN: the first mention of “LDN” (London) in music? Certainly way before Lily Allen was using it. Detroitish chords meets slap-bass!
